HARRIS HOLSAPPLE IV (SARAH)
Lead PastorPastor Harris and his wife Sarah have been leading the church with fresh vision, excitement, passion, and creative ideas to win Cedar Rapids and surrounding areas for Christ. Pastor Harris has a heart to see lives transformed by the power of God and to see people experience new life!
The lead pastor develops the church vision, provides organizational management oversight, serves as the primary preacher/teacher and partners with the Executive Board.
CODY VAN SICKLE
Student Ministries PastorThe Student Ministry pastor is responsible for leading middle school and high school ministry by developing ministry plans, implementing the ministry vision, pastoring the students, recruiting and equipping volunteers and coordinating general administrating.
SONNY FRIIS (KAY)
Director Of Worship & Tech DirectorThey bring spiritual musical leadership to worship ministry through service planning, corporate worship leading, equipping leaders and over all support to the broad ministry. Oversees the ministries of local outreach, community care, prayer and evangelism.
ABBY LASECKI (TOM)
Fine Arts Director & Executive Children's DirectorAbby supports, helps, assists and serves as a vital part of children’s ministry by maintaining ministry information, preparing and distributing curriculum materials and offering administrative support. As the Music/Arts Director she also fills in on worship team and prepares and directs the large church productions.
DAVE WAGNER (KAROLYN)
Mission and Outreach DirectorThey lead weekly mission meetings and prayer for the Nations. Also provides monthly mission update to the Church as a whole. Dave & Karolyn organize and lead missions trips to different countries and supports local outreach within the church. This includes heading our Food Pantry and garden ministry.
DIRECTOR OF STEWARDSHIP: KAROLYN WAGNER
Karolyn supports the management of financial processes and record keeping, including processing cash receipts, dispersing payments, preparing reports and providing support to all ministries.
CHARLES STEVENS (SHARON)
Pastor EmeritusPastor Stevens has served at First Open Bible for 50+ years. He serves as the lead pastor’s mentor and provides spiritual guidance to all leadership. Pastor Stevens has retired from active lead pastor but continues to serve and has earned the honorable title of Pastor Emeritus.
Minister of MusicOversees the worship/music ministry team of the church by developing, coordinating and administering Spirit-led worship.
Creative & Spiritual Development DirectorSupports and encourages teams by leading in ideations, solving problems and generating new ideas and concepts within the church. Works and collaborates with all ministries in strategic and creative planning.
MARY MOORE (TIM)
Facility AssistantThe facility assistant is responsible for the cleaning, care, set up, and maintenance of church property.
SHERRI ERKEL (JIM)
CO-CHILDREN'S DIRECTORSupports, helps, assists and co-leads Grow 252 Children’s Ministry.
SHERRI PEIFFER (MATT)
Office Administrator & Lead Pastor's Administrative AssistantSupports, helps, assists and serves by completing administrative processes, providing receptionist coverage, supporting the lead pastor as assigned, supporting other ministry operation teams including organizational and financial administration.
Executive Board members provide spiritual oversight, long-term vision and operational boundaries for the functioning of the whole church as an organization. While they focus on these items, they entrust the implementation of their direction into the hands of staff and other ministry leaders, through the leadership of the lead pastor. They focus their energy on the biblical mandate to lead and shepherd the whole church.
The Executive Board serves as ambassadors of Jesus Christ, as a representative of the congregation who have an interest in the ministry at First Open Bible.
The Executive Board’s responsibilities have both routine and varied aspects.
Throughout each monthly meeting the Executive Board tackles important issues for the church, including:
- Overseeing the overall vision and future direction of the church;
- Creating policies to clearly define church values and operating procedures;
- Ensuring the teachings and practices of the church reflect accurate biblical theology;
- Protecting the Church by providing direction on financial risk management issues; and
- Supervising the lead pastor for accountability;
- Ensuring the vision and values remain consistent.
